What Tuition Covers

Tuition covers not only the actual lesson time spent with the student, but the time preparing for each student as well.
This includes:

  • An individualized plan for each student
  • Development of teaching materials
  • Recital/Performance preparation
  • Professional organization memberships
  • Continuing education

Additional Fees

Annual Registration Fee

Each student pays a yearly registration fee. The fee is $20 per student or $30 per family for families with 2 or more students. This helps pay for the cost of running a music studio as well as the time spent doing things besides actual teaching, including:

  • Creating instructional materials
  • Bookkeeping/Accounting
  • Scheduling
  • Website cost & maintenance
  • Technology and app purchases
  • Professional development

This fee is pro-rated based on the time of year the fee is incurred.

Material Fees

Each student will at times be required to pay material fees. The cost of each fee varies depending upon the kind of material. These fees cover music and materials used during the entire course of the year. This may include:

  • Sheet music
  • Theory materials and lesson books
  • Apple Music/iTunes song downloads for lessons

Equipment Fees

Students will also occasionally incur equipment fees. These fees cover any equipment or tools needed to play and protect instruments. Many of these are one-time fees and relatively inexpensive. This may include:

  • Gig bags or hardshell cases
  • Guitar capo
  • Guitar humidifier (Required! Acoustic guitars only - these are necessary to help keep guitars in good playing condition)
  • Tuner/Metronome (Required)
  • Picks
  • Cables (for electric or acoustic/electric guitars)
  • Guitar polish/microfiber cloth
  • Peg winder (tool for changing guitar strings)
  • Other miscellaneous items

Maintenance Fees

Just like any quality instrument, guitars, ukuleles and pianos all need a little TLC from time to time! Instrument maintenance is extremely important!

  • String changes - $20 (includes high quality strings & labor; this is done 2-4 times a year and can vary from instrument to instrument
  • Piano tuning--This is something Taylor hopes to be trained in soon. He looks forward to making this service affordable for all families soon!

Programs/Incentives

Instrument Rent-to-Own

Purchasing a quality instrument is certainly an investment. It's nice to have the peace of mind knowing students can try something new like guitar without worrying about whether you'll play it for 2 days and then never touch it again! Stichka Music Studio's rent-to-own program provides you that peace of mind, offering affordable options for renting guitars and amps. Here's how it works…

  • Students will receive their new guitar at their first lesson, along with any accompanying materials and equipment.
  • A $10 fee is added each week until the equipment is paid off.
  • Once the equipment is entirely paid off, the $10 fee goes away and the equipment is yours to keep, trade, sell, or upgrade. Stichka Music Studio is willing to be involved in upgrading equipment to ensure that students get the most for their investment.
  • In order to have rent money go towards owning the equipment, students need to continue lessons long enough to pay off the entire balance owed. If students stop taking lessons before the entire balance is paid, they will not be refunded their rent money. In this case, they will just pay "rent" for the equipment and the equipment will be returned to Stichka Music Studio.
  • Students or their parents will be liable for any damage or repairs needed for equipment. It's important that all students be responsible and take good care of their rented items!

Families and students can earn credits and incentives for hard work and helping spread the word about Stichka Music Studio!
